Summary

In this prequel to #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon They Both Die at the End, two new strangers spend a life-changing day together after Death-Cast first makes their fateful calls。

It’s the night before Death-Cast goes live, and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Can Death-Cast actually predict when someone will die, or is it just an elaborate hoax?

Orion Pagan has waited years for someone to tell him that he’s going to die。 He has a serious heart condition, and he signed up for Death-Cast so he could know what’s coming。

Valentino Prince is restarting his life in New York。 He has a long and promising future ahead and he only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident。

Orion and Valentino cross paths in Times Square and immediately feel a deep connection。 But when the first round of End Day calls goes out, their lives are changed forever—one of them receives a call, and the other doesn’t。 Though neither boy is certain how the day will end, they know they want to spend it together…even if that means their goodbye will be heartbreaking。

Told with acclaimed author Adam Silvera’s signature bittersweet touch, this story celebrates the lasting impact that people have on each other and proves that life is always worth living to the fullest。

It's only your heart that can skip over the guilt of not studying for your exams and the knowledge of the fact that this book is going to end up in tragedy。 And my heart did a pretty good job of that。 The first book made me cry rivers。 This one, the author managed to pull off a decent crying session of streams but no rivers。 But that doesn't make the story less beautiful。 OH GOD THIS WAS A FU***** ROLLERCOASTER。 ValentinOrion。 VALENTINORION。 Okay so the flawed parts first-There's only one。 I rea It's only your heart that can skip over the guilt of not studying for your exams and the knowledge of the fact that this book is going to end up in tragedy。 And my heart did a pretty good job of that。 The first book made me cry rivers。 This one, the author managed to pull off a decent crying session of streams but no rivers。 But that doesn't make the story less beautiful。 OH GOD THIS WAS A FU***** ROLLERCOASTER。 ValentinOrion。 VALENTINORION。 Okay so the flawed parts first-There's only one。 I really felt the story moved on too fast in some chapters and too slow in some。 I don't mind the too slow ones but the too fast ones could do some change。For the rest Jesus Christ I loved how Mr。 Silvera really goes into making each of his character known, giving them their own identity and stuff。 Dude really cares about them。 I liked the Rufus Matthew Cameo, even though it broke my heart when Rufus' father says you know what。 Heart fu***** breaking。 And heyyyy what's up with the pictures thing? I think I like it toooo much。 Lastly, too good of a book。 If Adam wrote this book to make people live their life to the best, I think he is succeeding in that。 Okie bye! 。。。more

I- I am in shock。 This book is now my baby。 It is my first 5 star read of the year, and my only regret is that I didn't read it sooner。 I got it as a birthday present (thank you so much Summer, you're the best <3) and I read it while on holiday with my family。This book was INFINITELY better than the first one, something that is very rare for a prequel。 I like Adam Silvera as an author, but this is his first book that really hit the mark for me。 I can't believe that this masterpiece was read by m I- I am in shock。 This book is now my baby。 It is my first 5 star read of the year, and my only regret is that I didn't read it sooner。 I got it as a birthday present (thank you so much Summer, you're the best <3) and I read it while on holiday with my family。This book was INFINITELY better than the first one, something that is very rare for a prequel。 I like Adam Silvera as an author, but this is his first book that really hit the mark for me。 I can't believe that this masterpiece was read by me。I loved the cameos of young Rufus and Mateo (it was so cute and exactly how they would be as little kids)。 Also the Young family is so awesome。This book portrayed toxic families very well, and it was so freaking heartbreaking to see Valentino go through that, even if he had Scarlet by his side, or rather on the phone。I hate Frankie with a passion, and (view spoiler)[ I'm VERY glad he died, but the major downside is that Pazito killed him to protect his mum and will now always be haunted by that。 (hide spoiler)]I'm usually not a fan of the instant romance trope, but this was executed so perfectly and this was such a great way to write this story。 This book also gets into trauma, and 9/11, which I didn't expect, but the subject matter was important and Silvera did it justice in this book。Dalma was such a fiercely protective best friend/sister to Orion, and I hope that everyone has a Dalma Young in their lives。Last thing: I wish that (view spoiler)[ Valentino had died a different way。 Don't get me wrong, it was a good arc, but I still wish that he could have at least talked to Orion one last time。 (hide spoiler)]<3EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS 。。。more

5 ***** ReviewI didn't think I would love this more than the first one, but it surpassed my expectations。 A prequel that made sense to Adam Silvera's first book in the Death Cast world, and I found it brilliant how he chose to integrate every character throughout。 It made me feel so many wonderful things, and although classified as a Young Adult book, the themes that are feature tugged at my heartstrings。 A young gay romance facing life or death throughout 24 hours, and not because they are gay。 5 ***** ReviewI didn't think I would love this more than the first one, but it surpassed my expectations。 A prequel that made sense to Adam Silvera's first book in the Death Cast world, and I found it brilliant how he chose to integrate every character throughout。 It made me feel so many wonderful things, and although classified as a Young Adult book, the themes that are feature tugged at my heartstrings。 A young gay romance facing life or death throughout 24 hours, and not because they are gay。 This world feels so accepting and even though not all characters accept the sexuality behind these characters, it is nice to read a story where most of society just does。 After finishing, it has made me think of how we spend our day to day lives, wether we truly are living life to the fullest, and how lucky we are when surrounded by true love。 Valentino and Orion show exactly that and I will follow in their footsteps。 I am looking forward to the television adaption of "They Both Die at the End", and hope for more in the Death Cast universe。 。。。more

WOW !!! I've never read a book so fast。 From the very beginning I was hooked and every chapter surprised me with plot twists I should have seen coming but for some reason didn't。 There's a lot of different characters that seems unrelated but it all comes together as the story goes forward。 Every single one of these lives are interesting, suprising, and useful to build the novel's universe。 Even with the same starting idea as They Both Die At The End this book is so different with a whole new dim WOW !!! Unfortunately this prequel was not needed。 It was slow moving and the characters felt like charactures of young people who find out that one of them is destined to die。 Stick with the first book。

unfortunately i have to say that this book is overrated :(( a lot of my friends loved it, and i thought it was good, but not the five star that i was promised it was。props to adam silvera for organizing all the povs and characters that are carefully linked together, but this story (and TBDATE as well) didn't have the spark for me。 the heart thing was a very nice twist, but overall i felt the story lacked purpose。 maybe it's because i knew that he would die anyway, so it's not surprising to me。 t unfortunately i have to say that this book is overrated :(( a lot of my friends loved it, and i thought it was good, but not the five star that i was promised it was。props to adam silvera for organizing all the povs and characters that are carefully linked together, but this story (and TBDATE as well) didn't have the spark for me。 the heart thing was a very nice twist, but overall i felt the story lacked purpose。 maybe it's because i knew that he would die anyway, so it's not surprising to me。 the characters seemed to not have much chemistry, even though they were very well fleshed out - probably because they had only met a day ago。 the writing style felt a little forced and overly flowery。 when every other line is trying to be poetic, nothing stands out。 silvera lacks the clear transparent writing that i really admire。 overall, a pretty good book without any major issues, just didn't have the magic ingredient to make me turn it into a five star。 。。。more
